The Prompt That Helps You Decide Who to Call First — When Time Is Short Before a Trip

If you read last week's article, you know we recommended calling your 20 best clients before you go on vacation.

But let's be realistic: sometimes the trip gets planned last minute, or the week fills up with a hundred other things.

If you don't have time to call all 20, here's what to do instead: prioritize with intelligence, not guilt.

The problem with a long unordered list

Having 20 names on a list isn't the same as knowing who to call first. And when time is short, the natural tendency is to call whoever comes to mind first — not necessarily whoever needs it most. That's where a well-built prompt saves you from that problem.

The prompt for prioritizing with limited time

"I have these clients in my portfolio and I only have time to call [number] before I leave on a trip: [describe 5–8 profiles briefly, no names — business type, current situation, when you last spoke]. Help me prioritize who to call first, considering who is most likely to have an active capital need or who has gone the longest without contact."

What you get: an ordered list with the reasoning behind each position. Not magic — just organizing information you already have, in a way your end-of-season tired brain doesn't always manage on its own.

An even faster shortcut

"I have 10 minutes before I leave. Which of these 3 clients should I call: [describe the 3 profiles briefly]?"

Sometimes the simplest decision is the one that gets delayed the longest. A direct prompt gets you out of analysis paralysis in seconds.

What happens when you make that one call

You don't need all 20 calls for this to work. One well-placed call, to the right person, at the right moment, can generate more than ten generic calls. The question stays the same: "What are your plans for the second half of the year?" Simple. No pressure. Real.

And one more thing…

If that call — the only one you managed to make before rushing to the airport — reveals a capital opportunity, you don't have to resolve it on the spot. Send us the profile when you can. We handle the rest while you enjoy your trip.
