3 Prompts Every Tax Preparer Should Have Saved Already

I'm going to save you hours of trial and error.

Because one of the most common questions I get when I talk about AI with tax preparers is this: "Pati, but what do I actually say to it?"

The key is the prompt. How you frame the question. Today I'm giving you three prompts you can copy, adjust with your information, and use this week. Not tomorrow. This week.

First — what is a prompt and why does it matter?

A prompt is simply the instruction you give AI. It's the difference between asking "how do I follow up with clients?" — and getting a generic internet answer — versus giving it real context and getting something you can use in five minutes. The more context you give it, the better it works.

Prompt #1 — To identify opportunities in your portfolio

"I'm a tax preparer and I work mainly with [type of clients: restaurants, contractors, retail stores, etc.]. What are the most common signs that a business in these industries might need working capital financing, equipment financing, or a line of credit in the next 3 to 6 months? Give me concrete examples of situations I should actively look for in my conversations with clients."

What you get: a list of specific signals for your type of portfolio that you can actively look for in your next client meeting.

Prompt #2 — To respond to objections without losing the conversation

"I'm a financial advisor and I work with Hispanic business owners. My client just told me that [specific objection]. Help me prepare an honest, empathetic response that doesn't sound like a desperate salesperson. One that opens the door to continuing the conversation without pressure."

What you get: a response you can adapt to your style. One that acknowledges the client's concern, validates it — and opens a door instead of closing one.

Prompt #3 — To create content that keeps your presence active

"I'm a tax preparer and I want to publish brief content for my business owner clients. Write me [number] WhatsApp status ideas or short posts for [platform] about [topic]. Make them conversational, not corporate. Maximum two or three lines each."

What you get: content ready to use or adapt. No creative block. No hours staring at a screen wondering what to say.

The secret nobody tells you about prompts

They don't have to be perfect the first time. If the response isn't exactly what you need, adjust. Add more context. Change the tone. Ask it to make it shorter, more direct, warmer. It's a two-minute process — not an exact science.

And one more thing…

The best prompts in the world won't close a deal for you. But they can help you identify who in your portfolio needs capital, prepare you for the difficult conversation, and keep your presence active with less effort.

And when that conversation reaches a point where the client needs real guidance on their financing options — that's where we come in.

Save these prompts. Use them this week. And if you find a client who's ready — you know where we are. 👉 917-740-5180 | partners@capifinders.com
