The Business Owner’s Silence: When You Don’t Know Where to Start

There’s a kind of silence that almost no one talks about.

It’s not the silence of having no clients.

It’s the internal silence… the one that shows up when you know your business needs something, but you don’t know what.

Some time ago, I met with a business owner who told me something that stayed with me:

“Pati, I know I need to grow… I just don’t know how to start without making another mistake.”

That “another” carried the weight of frustration, exhaustion, and past attempts that didn’t work.

Most Hispanic entrepreneurs don’t stop because they’re afraid of hard work.

We stop because we lack clarity.

And when you don’t know where to start, something very simple happens: you don’t start.

Silence is not the problem.

The problem is staying there, sitting with doubt, or making decisions without real information.

That silence is usually a sign of two things:

  • You need to organize your thoughts.

  • You need simple, clear information.

The good news? You don’t need to know everything to begin.

How This Shows Up in Business

Every time an entrepreneur feels stuck, what’s really missing isn’t capital.

It’s clarity before the capital.

Important (and sometimes uncomfortable) questions:

  • What do you actually need right now?

  • What are you avoiding?

  • What information are you missing?

  • What are you afraid to admit?

When you start answering those questions, everything else—including capital—begins to make sense.

Your business grows when you grow first.

And that first growth almost always begins by breaking the silence.

If this message resonated with you, share it with someone who may need clarity today.
